Summary

Pontecorvo is a fortified town in the swamps of southern Lazio, not far from the border with the Angevin kingdom, on the shores of the Liri river; once part of the Church's domains, an unlikely revolt has expelled the Papal governors, installing a lordship led by the Ghibelline faction. Protected by the marshlands surrounding it, Pontecorvo has become the centre of the Ghibellines of Lazio, a big thorn in the Pope's side.
