The Myrdalar (Islands of Iron) are Bretannia's southwestern cluster of islands, and geographically the closest to Atlantis, even though the distance between the two regions is still great. It is composed of around thirty islands, of which only eight are relatively densely settled, and many more islets, mostly uninhabited. The seas around the islands are stormy, and the lands are barely fertile and rocky, with few bare harbors: agriculture is scarce, so mostly the islands rely on sheep-herding and fishing. Unsurprisingly, the region is home to some Bretannia's fiercest sailors, fishermen and raiders; the noble houses rule from their castles perched on top of the rocks of the Iron Islands, each capable to sailing a vast fleet for their own goals, or when the Crown requires it.
