Ibben ("Whales") is the northwesternmost cluster of islands of Bretannia, composed of two main large islands, known as Ib Lok (Greater Ib) and Ib Sar (Smaller Ib), and a series of smaller islands between them, known collectively as Ibben Dol ("Sea of Whales"). The islands are hilly and deeply forested, and covered in snow for about half of the year: inhabitants rely on hunting, fishing and whaling to sustain themselves, as these lands can provide little in the way of agriculture. These lands were the last of Bretannia to be settled, and mostly they were colonized because the seas near them are ripe with sperm whales: thus, whaling is very important for the islands' economy, and a central aspect of social life. The shipbuilding industry also thrives here, and many fleets of Bretannia are built here. The inhabitants of Ibben are known to be more welcoming and kind than other Bretannians.
