Throatstep is a genre of electronic dance music originating in Tuvan American communities. It emerged in the mid 2000s as a fusion of EDM, dubstep in particular, with traditional Tuvan folk music and throat singing.
Closely related to dubstep, throatstep is currently growing in popularity in the United States among Tuvans and non-Tuvans alike.
